NEST NEWS UPDATE

In our most recent update on the web, we told you about some property that we were prayerfully considering purchasing.  You may have also received a special letter regarding this.  After much prayer and deliberation, we have purchased this home.  So far, three of our board members have been down there.  The president of the board is down there now for a month.  The following is written by Van, our first board member to visit the new “Nest.”

“It is not often you can see God's hand in our lives as I experienced on my trip to Montego Bay in July.  I went down to look at property for a home for Robin’s Nest.  Michelle had prayed for a clear sign in the search for a suitable property.  God sent the owners right to her door.  "Behold I stand at the door and knock" is out of context here but it fits!

On Saturday, the day I left, there was but $5,000 in the coffers to even think of purchasing this property.  But the Lord provided and we were able to make the initial down payment.  We have been given a matching grant of $40,000 that we must raise as soon as possible.  We are so grateful to those of you who have already given towards our new home but we need to hear from many more.  And with the matching grant, each dollar that is given is doubled.  We have another payment due December 31.

The house is on a hill overlooking Montego Bay.  It was owned by a missionary couple who had been on the island for 15 years.  There are 5 bedrooms and 5 baths (lots more space) and a small church (that would make a great school) on the five acre parcel of land.  Fruit trees grace the property (which Michelle has always wanted). “He will give us the desires of our heart!”

Across the road are the remains of a Jamaican historical church where the end of slavery in Jamaica is celebrated with a monument nearby.  It is about 45 minutes from the airport.  The Lord will keep us humble as we travel up the hill to the Nest, as the road is a bit bumpy.

It truly is an answer to many prayers.  Now we must unite together to put our time, talent and money for the common goal of making this a children’s home suitable for the children God will send.  To God be the glory!  The matching grant must be raised as specified by the donor.  Monthly financial obligations continue as well.  Let us purpose to use this new home to fulfill His plan for “Robin's Nest.”

And a note from Michelle in Jamaica-

"Jamaica itself is the same but the things God is doing around us are so above and beyond all I could ask or think.  I am being called on by the children's service department now to advise and help on some issues and cases that are difficult.  I have been dealing with some things that are very unbelievable.

Please pray for children all around the world.  As the times become more and more stressful, satan roars his ugly head to attack everyone because his days are getting shorter.  The old and young seem to get the full brunt.  Thank God that "He Who is in us is greater that he that is in the world."  Our only hope for the future is Jesus Christ."

Michelle will be in the states the month of October.  If you are interested in having her speak, please contact Kris Killian here (k.killian@att.net) on the website.

Vision statement:

To raise the standard and quality of childcare across the island of Jamaica; to improve the ratio of adults to children in childcare settings; to abolish the mindset that physically, mentally, and otherwise challenged children are second-class citizens.

Mission statement:

We pray that Robin's Nest will provide a nurturing, loving, safe, Christ-centered atmosphere in which all children will grow at their own speed --physically, mentally, and spiritually -- so they may develop their own individual gifts, talents and abilities and become the person who God intended.
