AUGUST UPDATE FROM MICHELLE

"I am most grateful to all of you who have been praying for us during these summer months.  July was very hot but August has brought a better breeze and we are more comfortable.  My knee continues to do well and I have really enjoyed the groups and individuals who have been here helping over the summer.  Our garden continues to grow now during the rainy season and we are looking forward to a GREAT harvest.  Praise God!

The children are doing well.  Continue to pray for those in the process of adoption, especially those with medical concerns as they could get so much more help in the state.  Pray for Dean’s adoption to go smoothly and swiftly as he needs surgery on his eyes for autism.  Continue to pray for Aaron's also.  Shana Kay is at camp this week for the first time with a friend, Francine, who also has similar health problems.  Please pray for both of them.

One of the GREAT events of the summer was taking our kids and the school children to Dolphin’s Cove.  They allowed the children in at a much reduced rate and then let them stay after hours to swim alone with the dolphins.  As you can imagine, they loved it.

Lots of painting has gone on this summer by teams for which we are grateful.  Right now we need your prayers as our kitchen sink is tore apart in need of repair.  What a mess!  We are continuing to work on getting water up here to our home on the hill and the solution has been approved by the community water council.  Unfortunately it will require a mile of new pipe and lots of labor for installation as it will be buried in our rocky soil to protect it.  We will also need the cooperation of some very high ranking Jamaican political figures to accomplish this.  Pray that this can be done at an affordable cost before the dry season returns, and the teams with the skills to do this project will be on site at the right time to do the work.

Be sure to look at the new pictures of the children below and on the ‘Children’s Page’ and see their new red t-shirts.  Just click on the picture to enlarge it.   We have these red t-shirts available through our board member, Paula (click here for the ‘Opportunities Page’).

As I said in my last update I continue to help with the 9 surrounding communities.  The response from them has been overwhelming and I am humbled at the opportunity to meet with them and pray for them.    We will have 12 children from the area attending our school this fall.  What a blessing.

Speaking of Fall, I look forward to being home the month of November and share Thanksgiving and celebrate Christmas early with my family.  I will be available for speaking engagements from November 3 to December 4.  Please contact Kris Killian at k.killian@att.net or call 651-779-4648.

Thanks for your continued support of the "Nest" and your prayers."     Michelle

Ephesians 1:3:  “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.”

P.S. As with most ministries, our summer months have been really tight financially.  We don't know from week to week if we'll be able to pay salaries or buy groceries.  If you can help in any way, now is the time to give.  We appreciate you so much.  Click on the Opportunities Page.

End of August update:

NEW BABIES:  Lilly was born on Aug 13 at around 5 pounds and is 7 now.  We also have one named Evone, a girl, premature, and she was about 4 pounds and is 8  now. She is 6 weeks old.

FUN NEWS FROM THE NEST:   I spent two months at Robin's Nest this summer, loving and being loved on by the children. Ten days before the end of my stay my mom was coming to visit, when we picked her up at the airport my boyfriend surprised me too! We started dating after serving together on a past trip to the Nest. The Nest is our favorite place to go together, we love to serve and work together for Christ. It was appropriate that one night he brought me to the balcony by the pool (where we usually do Bible studies). He had made hearts out of play dough, with the help of the children, and put candles into them. He then got down on his knee and proposed in the very same place that God brought us together! - Laura
