"I am most grateful to all of you who have been praying for
me during my recent return to Jamaica following knee surgery in
April. I continue to make progress with my new knee through
daily exercise in the pool here. I came home to Jamaica on May
28th and am most appreciative of all the individuals
and groups that were here while I was away. Since coming home,
we have continued to be blessed with volunteers from the states
to help with many projects. We even have a garden planted and
some beautiful flowers in front of our new home.
The children continue to progress, although many have colds
right now. Ion has been on his standing board and he has a new
friend, Noah, who rides with him in his wheelchair. Noah is 2
˝, born with spina bifida and hydrocephalic. He can not walk
but we are trying Shavene’s old walker for him and he can sure
get around. We also have two more new babies. The first one is
Enoch, 5 months old. He had been in the hospital for one month
from being malnourished. He has beautiful black curly hair,
well behaved and is growing every day. Another new baby is
Hannah, who was born June 28, weighing 8 pounds. She is very
healthy and a good baby. Continue to be in prayer for the
children that are in the process of being adopted. It is a
tedious process and very frustrating at times but we must
remember that God is in control. He is faithful. Be sure to
look at the new pictures of the children on the ‘Children’s
Page’ and see their new red t-shirts. We have them
available through our board member, Paula (click here for the
‘opportunities page’).
It was also good to be back and see the wonderful job the
staff did of filling in while I was gone. We are so blessed
with a committed and hard-working staff and our office manager
Ausley does a great job of keeping things running.
I continue to be busy with the activities here plus working
with the 9 surrounding communities on welfare and disaster
relief. We are also busy trying to get a permanent solution to
the trials of getting water during the dry season. Right now we
are blessed with rain nearly every day. We enjoy our local
church very much and the older children enjoy attending youth
group there on Sunday nights as well (when it isn’t raining).
We also have 9 area children attending our school and the
pastor’s wife is one of our teachers part-time. What a
blessing.
One of the projects that touches my heart is the new mural on
our dining room wall, ‘Jesus loves the little children, all the
children of the world.’ It has a child drawn on it from each
country and is fabulous, beyond words. An art major did it for
us and she did other things all over our new home.
Thanks for your continued support of the "Nest" and your
prayers." - Michelle
Psalm
57:9-11: “I
will praise you, O Lord, among the nations; I will sing of you
among the peoples. For great is your love, reaching to the
heavens; your faithfulness reaches to the skies. Be exalted, O
God, above the heavens; let your glory be over all the earth.
P.S. As
with most ministries, our summer months have been really tight
financially. We don't know from week to week if we'll be
able to pay salaries or buy groceries. If you can help in
any way, now is the time to give. We appreciate you so
much. Click on
